South Florida Mediator & Settlement Counselor
Francis Carter is a full time professional mediator and settlement counselor located in Miami, Florida and doing video mediations throughout the state, the country and the world. He has mediated more than a thousand commercial civil and bankruptcy cases involving a vast range of legal issues, as more fully set forth in the Practice Areas tab above.
After four decades of commercial civil litigation and bankruptcy practice Francis became a full time mediator in order to provide even greater value to the parties who engage him by devoting his time to helping them resolve their disputes economically through the mediation process as well as to repurpose his extensive prior experience as an advocate who negotiated amicable resolutions in business disputes among multiple parties asserting competing claims.
Francis is devoted to his wife, their two children, and their four grandchildren. He enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction, biking, photography and solving challenging word puzzles.
Mediated more than 1000 commercial civil business and bankruptcy cases
Listed as a Top Lawyer in the South Florida Legal Guide
Listed in The Best Lawyers in America under Bankruptcy and Debtor-Creditor Rights Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution
UNDER MEDIATION, BANKRUPTCY AND CREDITOR-DEBTOR RIGHTS / INSOLVENCY AND REORGANIZATION LAW, LITIGATION – BANKRUPTCY, AND LITIGATION – REAL ESTATE SINCE 1991.
For the duration of the current pandemic I am available to do only video mediations using the Zoom platform, and will not return to doing in person mediations until they can again be done safely. Even when conditions return to normal, however, I shall continue to do video mediations whenever the parties so request. In my experience successful resolutions are reached via video as often as in person, and it makes sense to continue to benefit from the convenience and economy inherent in the video format: no one has to travel, thus avoiding airports and local rush hour traffic; everyone is at their own work station and can easily attend to other matters when not in active caucus; and no physical venue is required.
Francis Carter is highly proficient with Zoom mediations and able to reach successful resolutions just as often as in person

I offer a free one-hour interactive program (currently only by Zoom) to litigation and bankruptcy practice groups where I speak on Mediation Advocacy Skills. It carries one hour of Florida Bar CLE credit, including one hour for General Credit, and also counts as one hour toward certification in Business Litigation and one hour toward certification in Civil Trial.
